Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection consists of the materials distributed by Wheaton College related to art exhibits and events on campus, 1935-present. The Wallace Library, completed in 1923, contained an art gallery on the second floor in what is now the Clark Room. Upon completion of Watson Hall in 1962, with its purpose built gallery space, exhibitions and events left the library and the college bgan mounting larger, more sustained exhibitions. Many of the materials in this collection--especially the mailers--were saved by Ruth Fletcher, longtime reference librarian and de facto archivist of the college until her retirement in 1979.
