Family / Genealogy

 Series — Multiple Containers

Scope and Contents

Each of these family histories, written by Lois B. Larcom Horn, represent significant research in local records in the United States and Great Britain, record family oral tradition, synthesize the information into a complete story, and include illustrations of the family furniture now donated to Wheaton College. These materials provide the family and historical context for the College’s entire Larcom Collection, both manuscripts and books.

All accounts are typed, and when received, contained photographs (original and copied), clippings, and letters and documents (original and copied); some pages were enclosed in plastic folders. Some duplication of information and illustrative enclosures exists between volumes. The earlier versions (Acc. No. 93-64.5-8) were photocopied, and the copies returned to Mrs. Horn. The genealogical accounts in accession 98-44 have been significantly enlarged and revised with additional narrative and illustrations. While the titles and much of the narrative remain the same in the more recent accounts, so many different illustrations, clippings, documents, photographs, and additional information is included that the two sets are not duplicates and must be studied together.
