biographical statement

Luther Fitch (b. 28 January 1783 in MA, d. 15 August 1870 in Portland, ME) married Almira Titcomb (b. ca. 1795) in Portland, Maine, on 23 June 1816, when he was 33 and she was about 21 years old. Over the next eighteen years, they had eight children: Harriet (b. 22 June 1817), Almira (b. 9 September 1819), Dr. Luther Jr. (b. 27 September 1821), Caroline (b. 6 January 1824), Andrew T. (b. 9 August 1826), Edward (b. 29 October 1828), Mary (b. 8 January 1831), and Adeline (b. 7 January 1834).
