Scope and Content This collection consists of a diary that chronicles the work of a young woman named Mary Ann Ashbridge during the annual cycle of running a household and dairy farm in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Having a chance to sit down, even for a few moments, was so rare that Mary Ann noted it in her diary.
