Kate Upson Clark papers include: a composition by Kate entitled “Seniors Farewell to the Seminary Belles,” 1869, an article from The Ladies’ Home Journal (1890) written by Kate entitled “Admiring the Right Things,” a transcribed letter to Dr. Cole concerning a gift of $1, 000 to the Organ Fund, a poem "Prologue," as well as several biographies.

Scope and Contents

The collection contains an introduction to the writings of Elizabeth B. Stoddard from 1949-1966 and a typescript biography of Elizabeth written by Robert Cantwell of Sherman, CT. Mr. Cantwell made corrections in ink on the typescript.

Harriet E. Paine's Papers includes published and unpublished manuscripts focusing on classical works and abolition. Paine's collection also has correspondence to William Lord regarding the Civil War, Samuel Austin Chapin (brother of Eliza Baylies Wheaton), and Wheaton College President Dr. Samuel V. Cole concerning Wheaton Seminary's War efforts circa 1915.

Scope and Content These papers document the life of Jane Eleanor Ruby, who was a history professor at Wheaton College from 1954 to 1978, including her education and employment before Wheaton and her activities after her retirement until she died in 1992. The materials of the collection are organized chronologically. There are many gaps within the collection due to the lack of material for each series.
