Wardrop Family Writings

Agnes Wardrop's writings include two compositions: one on physiology and the other a description of the Seminary building and rooms. An extract of letters describes Agnes Wardrop's life at school and the daily course of studies, 1836-37. Agnes’ student notebooks include: Extracts on [Watt's] Improvement of the Mind and Penmanship exercises.



Margaret Wardrop's, 1836 History and Bible Lessons are also found within the collection.

The collection shows the activities of an affluent family in the small town of Norton, MA. Laban Morey Wheaton and Eliza Baylies Chapin Wheaton were both active in the community, and established Wheaton Female Seminary. Eliza Baylies Chapin Wheaton contributed a great deal to the town of Norton by helping to renovate the Trinitarian Congregational Church and building the...

Wife of an Illinois Sawmill Worker's diary

Scope and Contents One manuscript diary from 1892, written by the wife of a sawmill worker. Diary includes short notes on daily workers' activities and weather. Diary contains all comings and goings of the residence, along with a record of purchases, sales, and employee payments. Writer participated in and donated to her church's aid society. Residence somewhere between Chicago and Champagne, IL.
