Biography
Sarah and Anna Kempton, the daughters of William W. Kempton and Sarah (Bailey) Kempton, were from New Bedford, Massachusetts. Anna attended Wheaton Seminary from 1842 to 1844, while Sarah attended from 1842 to 1845.
Sarah, born May 1, 1826, married Jacob Soule Parker in 1847. They had ten children and continued to live in New Bedford. She probably died on Sept. 9, 1906.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The sketchbook and letters were donated to Wheaton by Sarah Kempton Parker's granddaughter, Alice Washburn Dahlen, 162 Main St., Kingston, MA, in February 1956. It is not clear if she also donated the lace mitts.
