Scope and Contents

The Antoinette Thomas Dress Pattern Collection includes three hundred dress patterns from various pattern makers specifically from Anne Adams, Butterick, Hollywood, Jean Hardy Patterns, McCall's, Polynesian Pattern, Printed Pattern, Simplicity, Stretch and Sew, and Vogue. For the most part the patterns have been used and annotated by Thomas. The collection also includes thirty-six Boy Scout Merit Badge Pamphlets.



Later additions to the collection include crochet dress patterns from the 1970s.



The collection is organized into series based on the pattern maker.

Biographical / Historical

Antoinette Thomas tested clothing patterns from the late 1940s through the 1970s. The dress patterns are primarily from te 1960s and 1970s. The Boy Scout Merit Badge Pamphlets are copyright 1925.



The collection was donated to the Archives by her neighbor Phillip E. Zawasky after her death in 2008.
