Lydia Folger Fowler's papers include: several biographies written about Lydia; a letter (original and transcription) to Mrs. Wheaton from Lydia’s sister, M. F. Allen, concerning the donation of “In Memoriam” card (1879); correspondence between John T. Miller and the College Librarian about Lydia (1939-1940); and a copy of The Daisy: a Journal of Pure Literature, which features a portrait of, and an article/obituary on, Lydia.

Scope and Contents

This collection is comprised of typescript copies of Sarah A. Jarvis' correspondence. It contains twenty letters between Sarah, friends, and family, while she was a student at Wheaton Female Seminary, 1843. The collection also contains forty letters between Sally, friends, and family concerning family affairs, 1843 -1850. A color photograph of Sarah A. Jarvis' portrait in included.

Abstract

The collection consists of 5 cartons of lecture notes from his years as a professor, political and personal correspondences, research materials, and general information from his interests in gerontology, human rights, and communes. Numerous magazines, reports, books, and newspaper articles have been retained, although many were removed from the collection. In addition, Alam collected political buttons, political cartoons, and comics, from which a sample was taken.

Scope and Contents

Agnes Wardrop's writings include two compositions: one on physiology and the other a description of the Seminary building and rooms. An extract of letters describes Agnes Wardrop's life at school and the daily course of studies, 1836-37. Agnes’ student notebooks include: Extracts on [Watt's] Improvement of the Mind and Penmanship exercises.

Margaret Wardrop's, 1836 History and Bible Lessons are also found within the collection.
