Lily Pons was an international soprano and movie star who was born in France, yet who attained American citizenship at the age of 42. She was a veteran of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City where she performed 300 times in 30 years.

Abstract
This collection was donated by Lucy A. Morse in 1942 in memory of her mother, Lydia Brownell Smith Morse class of 1850. The collection has a large number of shoes from all over the world including China, Malta, Argentina, France, and the US among others. The collection also includes general information about shoes as well as a photograph of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Thumb.
